AHHHHHHH [punches a wall] Guda’s greatest strenght & biggest weakness is that they’re incapable of seeing a sentient being as anything but a person!! No matter how monstrous, how inhumane, how insane they are, Guda will always see them as a person!! In the CCC event people keep telling them about how Alter Egos are fundamentally enemies of humanity, yet Guda only ever sees them as people!! The Shinjuku chapter is about them teaming up with villains and monsters and alters, these failed copy thrice removed from the original, and yet still seeing them as people!! Hell, Guda & Ereshkigal’s whole dynamic is that Guda keeps looking as this avatar of death and going no. You are more than that. I don’t care that you are divine, I don’t care that you are a literal rotting skeleton, all I can see is a lonely woman lying to herself. And that’s why Guda keeps getting the undying loyalty of their servants! Because they’re someone who can look at the likes of Cu Alter, and go, no. You may be a monster but you are still a person.

And that’s what’s killing them! That’s what makes the lostbelts so hard on Guda!! Because it doesn’t matter if that timeline was doomed from the start, if the Yaga neither act nor look human anymore, they are people- people, human, that Guda is killing. Guda is incapable of drawing the line between human and inhuman because otherwise they’d be forced to deny 90% of the people who laid them their aid their humanity, and Guda cannot do that. Because they’ve been through enough together to know that this would be a complete lie.
